 Nestled on its own pristine, mile-long curving beach, Six Senses Con Dao delivers a true five star cast-away luxury experience. Less than an hour’s flight from Ho Chi Minh City, the Con Dao Archipelago is an island paradise. Most of the main island and the surrounding clear waters are part of a national park protecting mangrove forest, coral reefs, endangered dugongs, and Vietnam’s most important nesting area for rare sea turtles.
Opened in 2010, this resort was built with exacting standards ensuring a light ecological footprint. Just 8 km from the island’s airport, the property is secluded and the architecture leans toward minimalism with an emphasis on local and natural elements. The open plan constructions maximise natural light and sea breezes.
 All accommodations are elegantly designed private villas with ample space and extravagant amenities. Each villa has its own infinity pool, and the multiple bedroom villas feature both infinity and lap pools. All villas have sea views – the Ocean Front units are directly on the beach, while the Ocean View units are in the second row, but high enough that the view is unobstructed. Personal butler service is included in the package.
A buggy service is available to take you around the property if you don’t feel like strolling the beach, or you can make use of the bicycles provided. I-pod docks with Bose sound systems help make your villa feel like home, and the library offers a good selection of CDs and movies on DVD, as well as books and magazines.
The By the Beach restaurant features fresh seafood and French Asian fusion dishes with panoramic ocean views. Meanwhile, Vietnamese by the Market offers authentic local cuisine of noodles, rice, rolls and wraps served in a street food-inspired ambiance, and also puts on cooking classes. Deli’cious has a strong selection of cheeses, cold cuts, salads and pastries available all day. A special menu offers in-villa dining, and barbeque or other unique meals can be arranged in your villa, on the beach, or at a location of your choosing.
 Six Senses Spa offers the world-renowned brand’s signature therapies. The main swimming pool and the fitness centre are nearby, and an impressive range of activities are available. Water sports equipment is on hand, and diving, fishing and island hopping excursions can be easily organized. In season you can view rare sea turtles nesting on the protected beaches of Con Dao National Park, and there are trekking routes on the island.
Feedback on Six Senses Con Dao is almost always effusive praise. Con Dao’s only five star resort does not come cheap, but you can be confident of getting your money’s worth here, in beachfront, rustic luxury that defies categorization.
