Amara Hotel****
ur brief comments:
 The Amara is a large hotel with 305 rooms located about 3km from the city centre on one of the main thoroughfares. The initial impression is marred by the parking area in front of the main entrance, but things improve inside.
The frontage is relatively small, but the hotel extends to the rear with a wide corridor adjacent to the service road on the right of the hotel.
Rooms are neat and pleasantly decorated, but feel functional rather than homely. Benefits offered in the Amara Club Executive Lounge include express check-in, breakfast and evening drinks, and coffee, tea and biscuits all day.
Surprisingly, there are only two food outlets. The main restaurant, 'The Cafe', is large, as might be expected. The smaller 'Chung Sa Cho Rong' restaurant serves Korean dishes, an indication of the Amara's large Asian clientele.
There's also a decent swimming pool, a sauna and spa, and gym room.
A shuttle bus drops guests off at one of six destinations in the city after breakfast, and picks up in towards the end of the afternoon.
Providing you're not bothered by the size of the hotel or inconvenience of getting through the infamous Saigon traffic to the city centre, the Amara offers comfortable accommodation at a reasonable price.
