Vinh Suong Seaside Resort***
Our brief comments: 
The Vinh Suong Resort opened in September, 2004 on Mui Ne Beach, about 10km from Phan Thiet Town. It's immediately identifiable as a contemporary Vietnamese-style establishment when walk through the impressive Greco-Roman entrance into the faux-Regency -style reception and lobby.
A shiny tiled floor, ponderous 'natural' dark wood furniture, an eclectic mix of paintings, pinned butterfly collections and plastic flowers similar items are popular with domestic tourists (we visited during the low season when customers are mainly Asian - we were assured that real flowers are used during the high season when the clientele is mainly 'Westerners'!)
That said, the resort has some attractive features. The gardens are well designed and managed. Exotic orchards are propagated in three nurseries - they are given as birthday gifts for female guests during the high season.
There's a variety of room styles. Standard have a shiny tiled floor, pleasant coconut wood furniture, a good built-in wardrobe, a wall-mounted TV, and a  small bathroom with shower only. A hairdryer is available on request. Rooms in the Ocean View Building and Garden View Bungalows are similar, but have larger bathrooms.
The Ocean View Villas have two bedrooms. The single bathroom has a corner bath and a small verandah.
The open-sided single restaurant serves predominately Asian meals with a few basic  international items. It's a pleasant building, and prices are reasonable.
The attractive free-form pool and pool bar has a wide surround and is used for barbeques.
The Vinh Suong is clean and tidy, the staff seem to be friendly and the accommodation is adequate. If you're not put off by a few tacky features and limited facilities, it's worth consideration.
