The Beach Resort***
Our brief comments: 
Like its name, The Beach Resort is unassuming. It's a straightforward bungalow-style hotel with all the usual amenities and few frills.
The bungalows are brick-built with terra-cotta tiled roofs. The only difference between them is that four have sea views, and another four have connecting rooms.
Inside, you'll find two double with mosquito nets, a tiled floor, light decor, the usual facilities, and a bathroom with only a shower.
That said, the natural wood furnishings are robust, and the  simplicity of the room adds to its charm. There's a good free-form pool with a wide surround and plenty of sun-loungers underneath a fringe of palm trees. The pool has a safe children's area.
The beach is also generously provided with sun shelters and loungers.
The resort's 'no nonsense' style continues with the accurately named Beach Front and Upstairs Restaurant. Downstairs is an open front bar looking out to the East Sea, with a dining room on top. The menu combines Asian and  Western traditions.
A poolside bar serves drinks and snacks from ten o'clock in the morning into the evening. The Beachside Bar provides similar fare and opens at the same time, but closes 'late'!
The Beach is a refreshing change from 'beach resorts' that pack out the facilities (and the cost) unnecessarily. You don't get the 'pampering', but the service is efficient and friendly, the pool and beach are fine, the food is good, and the prices are sensible. What more is really necessary?
