Swiss Village Resort Hotel****

Our brief comments: The entrance to the Swiss Village Resort
The Swiss Village resort is a Swiss private hotel investment built on a 1.6ha (4 acres) beachfront plot and managed by the EuroViet Sarl group. The architecture is an uneasy pastiche of the Hue Imperial style with terra-cotta tiled curved roof and circular columns.

It's a mix of accommodation blocks and bungalows set in an attractive tropical garden surrounded by mature coconut palms. The site is quite small, but the density of the foliage gives a sense ofA double-bedded Villa room seclusion. However, the pool and surrounding area is rather cluttered with buildings.

Rooms are neat and compact with the usual facilities, but bathrooms have showers only. Decor is generally bright and breezy, but the shiny ceramic floor tiles detract from what would otherwise have been an attractive design.

Most of the room categories are designed for couples, but suites have room for two adults and two The hotel's swimming poolchildren. The Family Villas are located on the beachfront and consist of a living room and three bedrooms accommodating up to six adults and children.

The Olympia Restaurant serves a combination of Western and Vietnamese cuisines with fresh seafood specialities and home cooked Phan Thiet meals to the fore.

Other food and beverage outlets are the OrchidThe Olympia Restaurant and terrace Restaurant and Bar, and the Lotus and Dolphin Bars. There's also a tea room.

The free-form swimming pool is a decent size and there's a reasonable variety of activities.

The Swiss Village is somewhat idiosyncratic - it has its own Bureau de Change, for example.

Swiss precision indeed! However, it follows the model of Swiss neatness and efficiency - take a look at the well-ordered line of thatched sunshades on the beach, each with its precisely trimmed hedge.

If you can put up with the somewhat cramped appearance of the sea facing area of the complex, and the shiny tiles, it offers good accommodation and facilities at a reasonable price.
