Holiday View Hotel***

Our brief comments:
Until recently, hotels on Cat Ba Island were mainly poor quality cheap hotels catering mainly for backpackers and budget tourists and locates on side roads leading off the waterfront. The Holiday View is a new 14-storey building located on inland side of the main seafront road. The hotel opened in the autumn of 2004 - a second phase of development will expand the facilities presently available.

All the 120 rooms have sea views - those on the higher floors provide Cat Ba's first panoramic vista of the bay and nearby islets. Standard rooms are comparatively small and basic. Superior rooms have wooden floors in common with the higher standard guest rooms. Room decor and furnishings are bland, but are decent quality and well equipped.

There are two restaurants. The Red Sail offers a range of international dishes, while the appropriately named Panorama restaurant on the 13th floor offers traditional Vietnamese cuisine and freshly caught seafood. The Rendezvous Cafe provides pastries and snacks, as well as cocktails and other alcoholic drinks.

Completion of the second phase early in 2005 should establish the Holiday View as Cat Ba Island's leading hotel
