Sunrise Beach Resort*****
Our brief comments:
 The ten-storey Sunrise Beach Resort is a new addition to Nha Trang's seafront. It's an imposing building with a faux French Neoclassical facade. The Romanesque theme of the exterior is continued within in the first-floor pool.
The entrance lobby is splendid. The fretwork motif on rectangular pillars and balustrades are echoed elsewhere in the hotel and are striking feature. The carefully-crafted muted colour scheme and the strategically placed plants create an impression of spacious luxury.
At present, there are 101 rooms in the five categories listed. In addition to three further suites, a category of twenty 'Club' rooms is planned for early 2005.
Curiously, only 28 rooms have a king-size or double bed - the remaining 73 rooms are all twin-bedded. Other unusual features are a floor with private garden balconies designated solely for female visitors and another with connecting rooms for the benefit of families.
 The facilities, fixtures and fittings in rooms and public areas are high quality, and sensitive design is a feature throughout.
All rooms overlook Nha Trang's sweeping bay and offshore islands.
There are two main food and beverage outlets - the Chinese/Vietnamese Imperial restaurant and a Western/Vietnamese restaurant, as well as an all-day coffee shop, a bakery and patisserie, and a colonial-style 'Sky Lounge' on the tenth floor.
The breakfast was excellent - a wide variety of good quality items, well prepared and  presented.
Particular features of the Sunrise are the friendly politeness of its staff , the attention to detail, and a 'hands on' Manager with a keen eye on quality control.
A Japanese restaurant will open in 2005. Also planned for next year is a 'Fun Pub' and two luxury spas.
These are early days for the Sunshine Beach, and it is not unknown for initial promise to fail to meet the test of time. However, the hotel is already doing good business and seems to be developing a reputation for high quality accommodation.
