Festival Hotel***

Our brief comments:
The Festival is a phoenix-like reincarnation of a much smaller low-rise budget hotel of dubious quality. An eight-storey new wing, a swimming pool and other additions and renovations have transformed it into a good value alternative to the more expensive hotels lining the river.

The reception area is light and airy, and lets onto an enclosed central area with a small, but attractive, swimming pool set among tropical plants.

The forty-three rooms in the new wing are a good size with wood-veneered composite floors and tasteful soft furnishings. Those in the upper story have good cityscape views from decent sized balconies. Rattan fixtures and modern fittings are good quality

There is a simple restaurant at the top of the new wing, and a larger Imperial Dining Room on the ground floor overlooking the pool. Smaller private dining rooms are also available.

There are thirty rooms in the original building overlooking the swimming pool. They are carpeted with good quality, colour-coordinated soft furnishings, and have good bathrooms. Furniture is in dark wood.

The hotel has a comfortable feel and is good value as a mid-range establishment.
