Our brief comments:
Sunrise Hoi An is located directly on Cua Dai Beach, about 5 km from the centre of Hoi An. Just opened early in 2012, the resort has garnered consistently positive reviews for its service – not an easy task for a brand new establishment.
The 4 storey main building has a modern design with strong vertical lines; there is no Vietnamese influence on the architectural style. The reception is expansive and airy.
The resort’s 222 rooms include suites and deluxe rooms located in the main building, while the villas are right on the beach. All rooms feature rain showers, private balconies and floor-to-ceiling glass fronts. The lavishly appointed villas come in one or two bedroom arrangements and some have private pools.
The range of dining options at Sunrise Hoi An starts with Sao Bien Restaurant, focusing on fresh local seafood dishes served in indoor and outdoor settings. Sensations offers 24hr dining, featuring Western favourites along with some Asian flavours, served with an ocean view.
The Givral Lobby Bar brings a touch of classic 1950’s Saigon to the resort, with the Givral brand’s famous cakes, pastries and creamery products complementing a full range of liquid refreshments. The Sunrise Beach Bar provides drinks, snacks and views of Cham Island from a poolside, beachfront vantage point.
Equipment and facilities are available for body boarding, kayaking, parasailing, beach sports, tennis, and more. Daily activities and excursions are put on by the Kids Club. The resort has a Lagoon Pool and a 34 metre lap pool, along with a nicely equipped fitness centre. The Bodyworks Spa offers a range of treatments and therapies using Thann products.
The owners of Sunrise Hoi An have undertaken a long term project to reverse the effects of beach erosion. Thus far the project is a success and the beach is growing. There are sandbags on parts of the beach and work crews operating intermittently; while this project continues, the beach itself can be less than ideal, but most clients report minimal disturbance.
Overall, though, Sunrise Hoi An has good facilities and offers a luxury resort experience that we can recommend.
