Lotus Hotel***
Our brief comments:
The newly-opened Lotus Hotel, located about halfway between Hoi An ancient town and Cua Dai Beach, is something of an oddity in that it manages to pack 45 rooms into a comparatively small site and leave enough space for a small garden and pool.
It's accomplished by a clever design using a central spiral staircase in each of the main accommodation blocks. Nevertheless, it does feel rather crowded. The architecture is a somewhat uneasy mixture of Vietnamese and Japanese styles.
The rather prosaic lobby belies the impressive appearance of the interior of the hotel. The central circular area is full of tropical plants around an ornamental pool with a small wooden summer-house in the centre connected by a low bridge. Behind it, a small swimming pool is tucked away at the rear of the property.
Rooms are small but well appointed, and standards of decor and furnishing are high. The floors are wood veneered composite. The restaurant combines international and Asian cuisines.
