Indochine Hotel***
Our brief comments: 
The five-storey Indochine hotel lies beside the Thu Bon river about 100m from the road, 500m from Cua Dai beach, and 4km from Hoi An town. It's newly built in French colonial style and opened in January, 2004.
Untypically, it's placed side-on to the road facing a large lake: that, and a lack of nearby buildings, adds to the grand appearance of the imposing front courtyard.
 The extensive use of dark wood gives the Indochine's lobby a first impression of heaviness. However, as you recognise the quality of the public areas, it gives way to a feeling of grandeur rarely associated with a three star establishment.
The unusually well-appointed rooms continue the dark wood motif, but carefully matched light coloured soft furnishings give a sense of airiness. Furniture, beds, fixtures and fittings are all good quality. Suite  rooms are impressive and include a computer with free Internet connection.
The main ground floor restaurant is equally imposing, redolent of the majesty of French Imperial architecture. It opens onto a splendid riverside terrace. There is a good menu of Asian and international cuisine, and drinks are priced sensibly. The rooftop restaurant and bar allows good views across a pancake-flat landscape of paddy fields and marshes.
