Our brief comments: 
Hoi An Beach resort is located 5km from Hoi An between the De Vong River and Cua Dai Beach. The 110 rooms are mostly in Vietnamese-style villas, each with up to twelve units and surrounded by lush tropical gardens and mature palms.
Rooms are remarkably large - the smallest are nearly twice the average room areas for hotels in Vietnam. They are simply decorated, making them light and airy, and are well appointed. A Vietnamese open air 'bathroom' outside the door is an unusual feature.
River View Villas are very spacious, with terra cotta tile floors and balconies. Attractive bed frames and wall hangings, good quality wooden furnishings and above average bathrooms with greenery make them a good option.
Eight rooms are in Vietnamese 'houses' with a balconies overlooking Cua Dai beach: they have thatched roofs, wooden ceilings, and bamboo-style bathrooms.
There's also two whopping 130m2 Suites - we've omitted them from the list below for lack of room, but please ask for details if you're interested.
The restaurant's tiled floors and conference-style furniture gives it a functional feel, but the excellent riverside terrace compensates. The main free-form pool is well designed with a jacuzzi, but the children's integral pool allows easy access into deeper water.
The resort has a reserved section of the beach with sunshades and beach furniture, but reaching it involves crossing a busy road.
With a road alongside, rooms on the seaward side of the resort tend to be noisy from early morning to late evening. Ground floor rooms beside the river have shutters, but no curtains: as a footpath is just outside, you either sacrifice privacy or close the shutters.
There are several additional facilities and amenities, some of which cost extra - it's wise to check in advance.
Although it has a few drawbacks, the Hoi An Beach Resort offers good facilities and accommodation at a reasonable price.
