Moonlight Hotel***
Our brief comments: 
The 8-storey Moonlight is a basic Vietnamese hotel that has acquired its three-star rating by merit of its range of facilities. It's located on a corner plot about a five-minute drive from Bai Chay, Ha Long City's tourist area.
The hotel is on the inland edge of a large area of reclaimed land designated for tourism and residential development. At present, the hotel overlooks an area of empty plots, building sites and a few completed buildings. The sea is about 400m away, but the nearest place to swim is the artificial beach at Bai Chay.
The external architecture is an acceptable pastiche of the French colonial style. The interior is typically modern Asian design and is popular with domestic and Chinese visitors.
Room decor is bland, with dark wood furniture and carpeted floor. The effect is not unpleasing, but the floor areas are below average. Bathrooms are small with standard baths, sanitary ware, tiling and fittings. The single restaurant combines Vietnamese, Chinese and international cuisines.
